We are the premiere Skills Training, and Team Showcase Organization for Basketball in Canada. Our objective is to teach players the fundamentals needed to play at the amateur levels and transition players into advance skills development for competing at the next levels. In combination with high-level AAU tournaments and leagues to further develop and build the competitive edge required to succeed at the Highschool, College, University or Pro-level. Our programs strongly foster the need for academic and athletic balance, which is crucial if players wish to experience all the benefits the game has to offer. We are Hoops Canada, We just ball!
Jermain is a diverse, well-rounded individual with the ability to connect with people on many different levels professionally and personally. He is the Founder of Hoops Canada, a reputable high school Basketball Coach and now Assistant Coach with Ryerson University Men’s program. He graduated from Centennial College with an Advance Diploma in Child and Youth work, and Grand Canyon University with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology with an Emphasis in Performance and Sports Psychology with honors. He has extensive experience working with children and youth from diverse cultures and socioeconomic backgrounds. Jermain has worked with The City of Toronto Parks and Recreation, The Toronto District School Board, the Kennedy House Youth Services and ACCESS For Youth. He has been featured in the Toronto Star three times for his exceptional work with Adolescents. For the past 15 years, he has tirelessly dedicated himself to preserving mentorship for youth who have the ability to surpass the expectations that life and society have placed upon them. Through Hoops Canada, he has led many youths successfully into the game he loves, basketball, and more importantly pedestals the necessity for higher education. The proof is in the many first-generation youths, from their families, attending College or University with confidence and pride. Jermain continues to touch the lives of children and youth through his unbiased nature, his acts of determination and his words of wisdom.
Josette “Ms. Jai” Holness
Josette, aka Ms. Jai, is a dynamic powerhouse that defies boundaries in promoting growth, capacity, and resilience in youth athletes. Her portfolio includes Co-Founder of Hoops Canada, Founder of Beautiful Women Society, Founder of Ms. Jai & Associates, and Executive Director of A.C.C.E.S.S. for Youth, certifications in Sport, Life, and Executive Coaching, diplomas in Business Management and Recreation Leadership, and over 27 years with Toronto Parks, Forestry, and Recreation, currently as a Community Recreation Supervisor. Her tenure has resulted in working with over 10,000 youth on and off the court. Her extensive background in people and business development brings functionality and mental development to Hoops Canada and demands excellence every step of the way. She builds players capacity to understand the complex dynamics of the basketball industry and creates an atmosphere of loyalty and commitment to their aspirations and ambitions.
